Our general meeting was called to order at 12:15 by President Ryan.  Karen Sobel lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance & Pastor Mike faithfully inspired us in prayer.

HAPPY DOLLARS were collected by Dennis Ciano....great job!

EVERYONE WAS HAPPY TO BE AT THE MEETING, HAPPY TO WELCOME OUR NEWEST MEMBER, KERRIANNE and.....

Ryan Gillies was happy that he took his first jetski ride while on vacation in Key West!!!

Tom Jones was happy about the NY Giants and about seeing Ryan's guest, Cara!

Chris Portera was happy about be able to attend his 2nd meeting in a row!!

Pastor Mike Staneck was happy that Dennis Ciano got him turned onto "The Blacklist" which aires on Monday nights!

Kerrianne Zeiner was happy about her induction to the club today and also that her first parent/teacher conference for her 2nd grader went well!

SOME SAD NEWS.....

 

TONY D'AMICO'S grandmother, Eleanor Faby, passed away, KERRIANNE ZEINER'S grandmother also passed away and a former Rotarian, Francis Duck passed away.....Our heartfelt condolences are sent to all the families!

 

Sending special get-well wishes to Lynda Moran...we hope you're feeling better soon!!

 

ON A BRIGHTER NOTE..... AN UPDATE ON WARREN GOERCKE....Doing better, infact, he has returned to work!!  Hopefully this means he'll be back at Rotary meetings soon!!?

EVERYONE MUST MAKE SURE THEIR DUES ARE PAID - CONTACT TOM LAWLER IF YOU'RE NOT SURE?!

ROTARY CLUB AND EICC are holding a Coat Drive which runs thru the first week of December....any coats can be brought to our meetings!

ISLIP FOOD DRIVE....please bring non-perishable food items to our meetings!!

ROTARY RAFFLE FUNDRAISER...Tix are $10. ea....only 600 tickets being sold(increases your odds of winning, lol)....We are hopeful that each Rotarian can/will sell a minimum of 10 tickets!? This will make alot of money for our club....SELL, SELL, SELL!!!

 

BOB NATHAN in need of host families between Jan. 6 thru Jan. 30....Please contact him for add'l info!

 

It's going to be a busy and exciting year....be sure to keep an eye on the "Upcoming Events" section for all that's going on!!

Today - Douglas W. Atkins, Esq of Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo & Terrana, LLP....

Discussed Islip's Homestead Act....this means that the commercial property owners shoulder a bigger portion of the tax burden than the residential property owners....he also explained how important it is to pay close attention to your tax assesment each year....there is a very small window of opportunity should you wish to dispute the assessed value/file a tax grievance.  His presentation was informative and very interesting.  Thank you Doug!

Golf Ball Raffle....Winning ticket was held by Tom Jones, but since he left, Kevin Fitzpatrick picked for him, but unfortunately, NO YELLOW BALL....just a white one that said " Don't you people have jobs"!?  Hahaha!!  Anyway, the pot continues to grow!!

AMOUNT COLLECTED FOR GOLF BALL RAFFLE: $105.00...the pot now stands @ $908.00

11/21/2013 - GIFT OF LIFE FUNDRAISER @ Flowerfields, St. JamesUPDATE....heard it went very well and a good time was had by all!!  Thanks to those who contributed/attended the event!!

11/21/2013 - Book Club Meeting @ Phyllis' house, 7:30pm - Russ Moran will be there to discuss his new book!

11/25/2013 - Rotary Club of Islip Thanksgiving Baskets...meet @ Stop & Shop, 9am then over to the Irish Coffee Pub parking lot to pack the boxes. FYI...BOXES ARE NEEDED!!UPDATE...Thanks to the efforts of our club, many families will have a nicer holiday!! Thank you to Karen Moss for organizing this wonderful event and to the Rotarians who helped out....Pastor Mike, Tom Cilmi, Kathy Cooney, Martha McDermott, Karen Sobel, Merri and Dennis Ciano, Bob Nathan(who also secured Amvets Hall), Fred Billings for donating the hams, James Bruno and Russ Moran.  Also, thank you to Bernie & Mary Phalen for supplying our rotarians with coffee and rolls!!

12/5/2013 - Next Board meeting, Regular meeting and IPAD Raffle drawing!

 

12/8/2013 - Breakfast w/ Santa, 9am at Irish Coffee Pub...$15. each person....if you're bringing a child and want them to receive a gift from Santa, you must bring a wrapped present with the Child's name on it!

 

12/13/2013 - Rotary Holiday Party, 6pm @ Clay & Marie Hart's home...Spouses are $25...please RSVP as soon as possible so they have a headcount....also, please let them know what you'll be bringing!!

 

12/14/2013 - SALVATION ARMY, Ring the Bell @ EI Stop & Shop beginning at 9am....hoping to have 2-3 people cover each hour time slot....speak to Eric Buehler for further information/available time slots!!

 

1/23/2013 - Fundraiser dinner hosted by Jake Koenigsdorf Foundation
