Guest Speakers: Joe Perino spoke about Depression
Joe gave us information about the types of depression, such as evolutionary depression which can be related to lack of sunlight. It can be
caused by events like death, loss of a job or a stock market plunge. Joe quoted that about 8% of Americans suffer with depression.
Depression can affect other illnesses. For example, dementia, cancer, neurological disorders can be worsened with depression.
Sleeplessness often times accompanies depression. Additionally lack of concentration, loss of energy and loss of appetite is associated with
depression. Typically women can suffer with depression more than men. Today, even reading or hearing the news can affect our moods.
Finding a balance in your life with mind, body and spirit while exercising and trying to eat right may help you feel better. Talking with a
licensed psychologist may also provide relief from depression. For more information about depression, please feel free to call Joe at 631-
277-8618.
Thank you very much Joe. You did a great job!!
