skating. Russ was haappy it was noot snowing – but it did starrt snowing duuring our meeeting ;-) Bothh Karens werre happy for oour
guests. And we weree all happy for Sue Z’s HHappy Birthdday!!!!

Guest Sppeakers: Ginnny Fields waas talking aboout the Southhside Sports CClub and its iinfluence on Long Island.d.
The Southside Sports Club was staarted by Fredderick Bourne, a wealthy buusiness man wwho loved hu nting and fishhing. The clubb
catered to other weallthy people suuch as Presideents Truman, Roosevelt annd Hoover as well as the PPrince of Walees, JP Morga n,
the Vandderbilt and more. Fredericck Bourne’s cchildren –inclluding his dauughters- alsoo hunted and ffished on the land preservees
that werre built on Lonng Island’s soouth shore. AAfter their deaaths, much of the family’s land went to ppreserve Lon ng Island. St.
John’s UUniversity andd Dowling Coollege benefittted from the BBourne’s gennerosity. Fredderick Bournee in addition to being
generouus, was also aa volunteer firreman.
Thank yyou Ginny, it was great haaving you andd we look forwward to seeinng you again in the futuree ;-)
