Our general meeting was called to order at 12:15 by NEW President Tony. Then Bob Nathan led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and PP, Ryan inspired us with a prayer.

EVERYONE WAS HAPPY to congratulate Tony on his Presidency and are all looking forward to a wonderful year under his leadership

SOME IDEAS MENTIONED......
1- Karen Sobel suggested another Ocean Beach Dinner....possible dates are 8/4, 8/5, 8/22 or 8/28, but she's pretty sure Mon 8/4, the Island Mermaid offers 1/2 price dinners....hmmmm, sounds like a good plan. Your thoughts are welcome!!!
2- Joe Perino suggested a Fishing Trip out of Captree....the thought seems to be to do it on a Thursday, in lieu of our usual meeting??!! Feedback appreciated!!
OTHER THINGS ON THE AGENDA....
Kevin made a final plea for the golf outing on Tues. 7/15....golfers still welcome to sign up and tee sponsorship is down this year?! If you have no interest in golfing, you can always just attend the after party/dinner!!! Contact Kevin for add'l info!!
Karen Moss will once again be heading up the effort to gather School Supplies.....a decision was made to actually buy/give the supplies rather than just gift certificates as was done in the past....this way we can be sure that some of those in need will definitely get the necessary supplies!!....cannot always be sure how the gift certificates are utilized?! Requesting donations from all plus we will need volunteers to shop for specific supplies and then distribute same!! At the suggestion of Tom Lawler, our Club will institute a new "Teddy Bear" program with the assistance of the Exchange Ambulance of the Islips.....The program is designed for children......we will supply the ambulance company with 100 stuffed bears wearing a Rotary T-shirt and they will distribute them to children who are sick or who have been injured....hopefully, this will help ease their pain and even make them smile!!!
Bob Nathan informed us about an upcoming event at the VA Hospital in Northport for the homeless Vets on Wed., Sept 24th.....Volunteers are needed to help these Vets get some much needed assistance/guidance.....sometimes too, they just want someone willing to listen....Bob and his wife have participated in this event and both agree it is moving experience...for add'l info contact Bob Nathan
BOB NATHAN also encourages each of us to bring a guest to the meetings in an effort to increase our membership!!!
REMINDER.....Next meeting will be a Club Assembly, hope to see you there!!
