9-12-13 –Guest Speakers:
Bill Mannix: From the Islip Town Economic Development Council gave us a better idea of how the town helps businesses that
also helps our town prosper. It is a division of the Islip Town Planning Department. To keep the political policy, the board
members are the same for both the Economic Council and the Planning Department. The agencies work together to allow for tax
exemptions for businesses while the businesses make promises to hire local employees and spur economic growth in our area.
The tax exemption is passed on as real estate tax saving, sales tax savings in new structure buildings and even cheaper financing.
There was much more. It was very interesting to see how this process works. Thank you Bill for this wonderful insight!!
